Vegetable Garden

We are blessed with a marvelous piece of property a small part of which we have made into a community garden. Plots are available for those who wish to grow their own food. Some fresh produce is also distributed through our Food Cupboard.

2021 was the most successful year for the community garden over the last 5 years. All the proceeds from the community garden were donated to the Heart Lake Community Food Cupboard to serve needy families from Brampton to address the increased food demand due to effects of COVID-19 pandemic. HLCG also had the highest number of volunteers, widest variety of crops and the best harvest season. A professional logo was also designed for use by both gardens. A domain name was registered and email solutions provided through heartlakecommunitygarden.com for use by the vegetable garden as well as the pollinator & therapeutic garden.
A Facebook Group as created in 2021 to bring together volunteers, donors, members of the wider community and supporters of the Heart Lake Community Garden. By the of the year it had over 77 members and those numbers are growing. Going forward, we are hoping to have more volunteers in the next season from the wider Brampton community as the HLCG has expanded to include the Therapeutic and Pollinator Garden which was launched in 2021. A professional website will also be designed and volunteers scheduling system will be implemented subject to availability of funds.
