John the Baptist

Advent 2

Author: Jean Leckie

God took a risk in becoming incarnate.  The risk was that God’s glory would be hidden by the very humanness Jesus came to save.  Why does God continue to take such a risk?

God is With Us?

Advent 1

Author: Jean Leckie
Advent is here.  24 days of chocolates or 24 days of little toys in the Advent calendar until the big toys arrive at Christmas, thanks to Santa Claus!  Isn’t that what this season is all about? ...A jolly old man running a toy workshop at the North Pole is obviously a fairy tale, unbelievable.  The idea that the God of the universe came to dwell as a human being is also hard to get your head around.

What's wrong with Debt?

Living In Debt

Author: Jean Leckie
How did we become so comfortable with debt?  We expect to be in debt for our homes but we are also in debt for our education, our cars, our major appliances and furniture, our vacations, even our Christmas presents.  Canadians carry an average credit card debt of almost $3 000 and over 40% of us don’t pay it off every month.  The Bible teaches that debt is generally wrong.
